According to Microsoft Support, "Please be advised that this error usually resolves after 24 hours." How do I get an account on MS Azure Dev Tools for Teaching?

 

You need a Microsoft account associated with your school email ( @go.minnesota.edu). The process  has two options.

 

You may create a new Microsoft account and associated with your school email. You will use this new Microsoft account to access the software and other options on Azure Dev Tools for Teaching.

 

You may associate an existing Microsoft account with your school email. You will use your existing Microsoft account to access the software and other options on Azure Dev Tools for Teaching.

 

 

How do I create a Microsoft Account for MS Azure Dev Tools for Teaching?

 

Microsoft Support writes the following.

 

Part 1

We (Microsoft) have to associate your .edu e-mail address into a personal Microsoft Account (e.g. Hotmail, yahoo, google, outlook etc.). If you don’t have a personal Microsoft Account, you may just convert any personal email address by following the steps provided below.

  1. 1.Go to https://my.visualstudio.com 

  2. 2.On the Sign In page, click the hyperlink that says Create one! 

  3. 3.Enter your personal e-mail address along with your preferred password and hit Next. A verification email with be sent to your e-mail address. (Note: Please check your spam or junk folders as the email might land to those folders)  

  4. 4.Enter the code provided to verify your email address. 

  5. 5.Once you have a personal Microsoft Account, please follow the steps provided below in accessing the Microsoft Education Hub. This is continuing to part 2. 


Part 2
Once you have a personal Microsoft Account, please follow the steps provided below in accessing the Microsoft Education Hub.

  1. 1.Go to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools

  2. 2.Click on the blue Sign in button and enter your personal Microsoft Account. 

  3. 3.It will direct you to the verification window. Choose the School-email address verification method. Enter your school-provided email address and your password.  

  4. 4.Check your inbox and then click on the verification link. It will direct you to the Azure Portal. Sign out and then open another window.  

  5. 5.Go back to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools

  6. 6.Click on the blue Sign in button then enter your personal Microsoft account and password.  

  7. 7.Upon signing in, you may be asked to agree to the terms and conditions (for first time users). 

 

How do I modify my existing Microsoft Account for MS Azure Dev Tools for Teaching?

 

This section has two sets of directions. The first set is essentially part 2 of creating and associating an account. The second set is troubleshooting steps for associatiating an account.

 

Set One

Once you have a personal Microsoft Account, please follow the steps provided below in accessing the Microsoft Education Hub.

 

  1. 1.Go to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools

  2. 2.Click on the blue Sign in button and enter your personal Microsoft Account. 

  3. 3.It will direct you to the verification window. Choose the School-email address verification method. Enter your school-provided email address and your password.  

  4. 4.Check your inbox and then click on the verification link. It will direct you to the Azure Portal. Sign out and then open another window.  

  5. 5.Go back to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools

  6. 6.Click on the blue Sign in button then enter your personal Microsoft account and password.  Upon signing in, you may be asked to agree to the terms and conditions (for first time users). 

 

Set Two

Please try the following recommendations below:

  1. 1.Using Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, please enable the In-private browsing by pressing CTRL + Shift + P on the Keyboard. 

  2. 2.Please go to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools and click the blue sign in button.  

  3. 3.Enter the her Personal email address then hit Next 

  4. 4.Enter the password then Sign In. 

  5. 5.Once signed in, it should take you to the Student Verification page. Please enter your school email address twice and a verification link will be sent to your  school email. 

  6. 6.Copy and paste the link to a new tab then hit continue. 

  7. 7.Please agree to the Terms and Conditions 

  8. 8.After completing the above mentioned steps, you should be able to access the Azure portal. If you were directed on the Azure Home page, please type in “Education” on the search box then select “Education Preview” from the search results.
